Dream Integration: What it is, how it works, and bringing the vision to life
The Spring Equinox and New Spark Energy
We find ourselves today at the Spring Equinox, pivoting from a time where darkness reigns to one where light begins to prevail. Does that sound to you like the metaphor we need right now? Can you believe in the possibility? When belief starts within we notice how external circumstances begin to shift—on the individual, close relationships, community, and broader levels.
We love a turning point. A newly initiated dramatic shift that contains fresh energy and surprise factor. The start to Spring and Aries season is supremely dynamic: it jolts us into aliveness from the comfortable slumber, and asks us how we bring the vision to life.
Those of you who are brave to do the inner work of alchemy know that initiating change, a shift in perspective, is rarely a graceful and peaceful process. It’s a desire to be with a new uncomfortable layer in the name of growth. It’s often borne from bravery, inspired by discomfort. Choosing to meet this type of opportunity, ultimately activating a new way of being, has the potential to bring forth more of our passion, love, creativity and inspiration.
What seeds are you planting for your future growth? What’s lighting your heart on fire these days?
On the topic of bringing the vision to life, let’s explore Dream Integration more deeply!
What is Dream Integration?
It’s a way of actively engaging with dream content to create meaning from the layers, facilitated by someone who’s been trained in how to ask questions to reveal significance and themes, and how to connect all of that to the embodied experience so we can map your unique patterning. It has a pretty fascinating way of evoking key themes in one’s life (and one’s nervous system!) for further inspection with the chance to evolve the patterns that normally lie beyond our conscious reach.
What is the philosophy or training behind this?
While there are several (often conflicting) ideologies when it comes to dream interpretation, the way I’ve been trained to practice believes the dreamer arrives at their own meaning through a facilitated process. This approach is highly individualized, and involves surfacing the dreamer’s unique associations and physiological experience. More Jungian and psychodynamic in nature, this approach is a sharp contrast to Sigmund Freud’s belief that all dream symbolism has a universal meaning and that all dreams represent repressed desires.
My specialization builds on my 3 year Somatic Experiencing training, incorporating the latest in Implicit Psychotherapy research and findings based on the work of Dr. Abi Blakeslee, a Senior Faculty member for Somatic Experiencing International. Following my completion of the SE program, I took a dedicated 3 day training with her in working with dreams.
How could this benefit my daily life?
Together we explore creative and visual subconscious realms to complete the conversation with the conscious mind. This may hasten the process to internalize growth edge material, illuminate some unexpected or interesting layers, and will often connect you with a part of yourself that needs your attention.
